Abstract
Objectives£ºThe purpose of this study was to demonstrate the relationships between psychological factors, such as depression, anxiety, academic stress and learning ability, such as concentration, time management and the academic achievement in students preparing the university entrance examination.

Method£ºThe subjects were 378 high-school graduates who had failed to enter colleges at the last year and who had been studying in a private academy for preparing the Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT). The Beck¡¯s Depression Inventory(BDI), Beck¡¯s Anxiety Inventory(BAI), in-house questionnaire for test anxiety, academic stress, concentration impairment, and time management ability were filled up. Besides, we investigated the correlations between those psychological factors and their SAT records of the last year.

Result£º The score of time management ability were higher in female than male students(p=0.001). BDI scores (p=0.008), BAI scores(p<0.001), and academic stress scores(p=0.007) were higher in female than male students. There were significant negative correlations between the average SAT scores and BDI scores(p=0.030), test anxiety scores(p=0.002), academic stress scores(p<0.001), concentration impairment scores(p=0.025).

Conclusion£º These results show the significant correlations between various psychological factors and the SAT scores. Thus, the comprehensive psychiatric and psychological interventions would be able to increase the accomplishment of schoolwork in some students.
